Introduction
Stacked by Betsoft – a magic themed game – is based on a rather unconventional 4X4 grid. Instead of the reels spinning, each symbol position is a face-down playing card that flips with the start of each spin – and while that looks pretty cool at first, it’s a little jarring on the eyes, especially since the spins take quite a long time to complete they are completed.
Still, Stacked is likely to appeal to a large number of players thanks to its varied betting options; You can wager as little as 0.20 credits – and as many as 120 – on each spin, and as you’ll see in this Stacked Slots review, there’s also a ton of bonus features to look out for!
Graphics And Theme
When it comes to graphics and visuals, Betsoft tends to be a fairly competent software provider – and Stacked is no exception. The video slot presentation is excellent with stunning graphics including a very lifelike magician positioned to the right of the reels.
You’ll find all the classic magic-inspired symbols, including a wand, magician’s hat and more – and there’s also some pretty appropriate animations that go well with the theme – more on that in the Bonus Features section a little later in this review.
Payout Rate And Volatility Of Stacked
Betsoft isn’t always known for producing games with the best RTPs – and that’s why we were pleased to see that Stacked offers an RTP of 96.39%. However, we should point out that Betsoft offers their games in different payout settings, so some online casinos may offer the game at a lower percentage than advertised.
When it comes to volatility and variance, we would say that Stacked falls on the low to medium side of the spectrum. The max win per spin is only 664x your stake – which is still a nice win but very low compared to most video slots released today – and we’ve found it to be very common comes to “wins” in the base game – although these wins are often worth less than the amount of money you bet on each spin.

As with many Betsoft games, Stacked is packed with bonus features – below we’ll take a look at what they are and what happens when you trigger them!
Secret trick
The Secret Trick feature is triggered randomly during the base game and can occur at any point during or after the spin. When this trick is activated, a random number of face down playing cards are added to the reels. The reels then spin, and once they stop, all of the mystery playing cards are flipped revealing a symbol.
Fix the trick
This is another randomly triggered bonus that appears during the base game and can occur on any spin that is not a winning spin. When this happens you will see the magician spring into action on the right side of the reels. He then picks up to 8 random symbols and turns them into a stack worth 3x the symbol’s values!
And when the magician selects a wild symbol, it offers a payout equal to the game’s highest paying symbol. So despite being a pretty standard reel modifier, the Fix The Trick bonus can result in some pretty decent wins!
Sleight of hand
On every spin during the base game there is a chance that the Wizard will appear randomly and “slide” a reel up or down. This can help you land wins – and it can also push bonus symbols into view, triggering the main bonus round in the game, which we’ll talk about in the next section.
Mystery Wilds
Although Betsoft calls this feature Mystery Wilds, it’s actually a Free Spins Bonus, triggered when three or more Mystery Box Wild symbols appear anywhere during the base game. You will be rewarded with 5 free spins.
Before the spins begin, you’ll see a cheerful little animation turning the reels upside down. You will then be asked to choose a number of squares (the more scatter symbols that triggered the bonus round, the more squares you get). Once you have made your selection, the free spins will begin.
The spins will unfold, and depending on your selection, the following reel modifiers may be applied to the gameplay:
Magic Multiplier: If you choose a Magic Multiplier you will receive a 2x, 3x or 4x multiplier on any wins you hit during the Free Spins Bonus.
Spectacular Spins: When you uncover “Spectacular Spins” you get 2, 3 or 5 additional Free Spins; this is the only way to trigger the function again.
Instant Win: The Instant Win slots award an instant cash payout of either 5x, 10x or 20x your current bet. This amount will be paid out after the free spins bonus ends.
Prismatic Reel: The Prismatic Reels feature, while rare, turns one of the reels fully wild for the duration of the bonus round. It’s possible to get more than one wild reel – and this, combined with a multiplier, is where most of the game’s win potential is found!
Stacked review
While we like what Betsoft has tried with Stacked, we can’t help feeling that they missed the boat a bit when it comes to the outcome. Sure, the game looks impressive, there are almost constant bonus features in the base game, and there are some pretty decent win opportunities – but unfortunately it doesn’t feel like those big wins are ever going to actually happen.
After testing the game for a couple of hours – and using 10+ of the main free spins bonus features – we couldn’t get a win of more than 40x our stake. Also, we found that the Mystery Wilds bonus (the free spins feature) tends to award more instant coin wins than reel modifiers, which actually help during the bonus round.
We like that the RTP is quite high – it’s 96.39%. However, keep in mind that Betsoft slots come in multiple payout settings, so you may well find that online casinos offer the game at a lower payout rate than what is advertised on this site.
Overall, Stacked is a great looking game and quite fun to play – but we don’t see it becoming one of Betsoft’s bigger hits, especially considering there isn’t any kind of progressive jackpot – anything , which many players have become accustomed to when viewing their games.
