Total Overdrive may be a classic 3 reel slot, but graphically it is far superior to the old classic designs. This is a fully animated 3D slot with a mainly purple neon theme. Bright lights, electric waves, grids and blindingly bright symbols on the reels take you into a futuristic slot with fast but very smooth reel spins.
The sound effects are also very well done. Total Overdrive has fast electronic sounds and a rhythmic house melody. However, after playing this slot for a while, the music may become monotonous at some point. However, there are 2 options in the menu to turn on/off the background music and/or sound effects.
GAMEPLAY
As with all classic slot machines, the game is played on 3×3 reels. There are also 5 paylines to connect the symbols. Throughout the process of playing Total Overdrive slots there is always a chance that you will land mega multipliers worth 1450x your stake. To do this, you need to hit combination wins across multiple paylines one after the other.
There are only 8 normal symbols and 9 combinations, all made with only 3 symbols. Landing the combo with the 777 symbol will reward you with a 50x multiplier on your stake. You can also connect 3 single 7’s to get 20x your stake. A combination of 3 symbols with cherries, diamonds or bells pays 4x, 3x or 2x your total bet.
The remaining 4 symbol combinations come with the symbols with one, two or three “BAR”. Hitting 3 of the single, double or triple bars on the payline awards 0.8x, 0.6x or 0.4x on your stake respectively. If you shuffle the 3 bar symbols on a payline then the slot pays 0.2x your stake.
You will also see a 9th symbol on the reels, which is the wild. It substitutes for other symbols like a wild and increases your chances of getting any of the 9 combinations that can be seen in the slot’s paytable. This slot also gives you many game settings to choose from. These options can be found on the slot machine screen and in the menu. There you have the option to set 5 to 100 automatic spins and/or turbo play.
BONUSES AND FREE SPINS
Win Multiplier: Each time you land a combo win, the multiplier increases by x1, up to a maximum of x10. The idea of this slot machine is to create as many wins as possible in a row.

BetSoft didn’t provide any volatility information for the slot, so we played for quite a while to form our own opinion. We’ve noticed that combo wins come fairly regularly and the progressive multiplier comes in fairly frequently. There aren’t many small wins though, and that’s why we’ve ranked this game as medium variance.
CONCLUSION
Total Overdrive is a classic slot with a futuristic theme. The gameplay is very similar to any other classic slot you’ve played, except it’s a lot more advanced. You’ll see BetSoft’s usual 3D graphics and animated effects that enhance gameplay, and there are multiplier features that reward multiple wins in a row.
